Chlamydia Testing Kits

What is ChlamydiaChlamydia Test Kit

Chlamydia is the most commonly diagnosed STI (sexually transmitted infection) in England and rates are increasing. Untreated Chlamydia can have serious long term health implications and may lead to infertility.

For most people Chlamydia has no symptoms, so you probably won't know if you or your partner(s) have it without having a test.

What does the Chlamydia Test involve

The test for Chlamydia is simple – just provide a urine sample. You do NOT need to be examined.

You can have a private consultation with the Pharmacist who will provide you with information and advice or alternatively you can just take the testing kit.

You will need to take a urine sample which should be posted to the laboratory. You will retain the tear off slip containing a URN (uniform resource name) which will be used for identification.

You can choose how the result will be sent to you (as an email, text or by mail).

What if the Chlamydia Test Result is Positive

If the results are positive, treatment which consists of a short course of antibiotics, can be purchased over the counter or if you prefer, you can be directed to your nearest NHS sexual health service.

Once you have completed the course you should be clear of Chlamydia.

Free testing for under 25’s

If you are sexually active and under 25 years old, you should be tested for Chlamydia annually or when you change your sexual partner.

If you are under 25 years old you can get a free and confidential Chlamydia test as part of the NCSP (National Clamydia Screening Progaram). Simply pick up a testing kit, take a urine sample and pop it in the post. You can choose how to get your result - text, phone or email.
